Dr. Kirsten Milliken is a dynamic and unique clinical psychologist and certified ADHD Coach who lives and works in the Portland Maine area. Yes, she has ADHD! Kirsten has used her insight and knowledge of ADHD to develop her playful style as well as her companies, ADHD Executive Coaching and PlayDHD. Kirsten espouses that Play is the best non medication intervention for people with ADHD. While Kirsten works with all age ranges, she focuses on working primarily with adults from around the world in her practice. Kirsten earned her degrees and training from SUNY Stony Brook, Alliant University, and ADDCA. She is an ICF certified coach and is also trained as an ADHD career services specialty coach.

Is Coaching The Same As Therapy or Counseling?
Short Answer-Nope, completely different!
Long Answer-There are several big differences between coaching and therapy.
The first difference is that I do not “DO” therapy with my clients. Coaching is a present and future oriented process that is focused on developing insight,action and forward momentum towards goals. Often in therapy clients are revisiting aspects of their past to “understand” themselves and their habits.
Secondly, I use coaching strategies rather than a therapy model with my clients is that I love witnessing my clients achieving their vision of their life, rather than just talking about it. In therapy the relationship is typically contained in the session and there is little contact between sessions. As a coach, I often have contact with my clients between through email, phone or texts to communicate about their successes or problem solve around challenges. My clients have amazing creativity and positive intentions. They have ideas that can change the world, their community, their family, their situation and themselves.
Supporting my clients as their intentions become reality is my primary role as a coach!
